The Project Management Institute BA certification (PBA) applies best to those with roles that overlap with project or program management activities. Co-ordinating stakeholders, managing the requirements management tasks as well as pure business analysis activities. Prerequisites include 2,000 BA hours experience.
The IIBA certification (CBAP) suites those looking for a general enterprise or strategic BA certification. The focus is on identifying business value and delivering business outcomes. Prerequisites include 7,500 hours BA experience aligned to the BABOK principles.
The BCS BA Certification (International Diploma in Business Analysis) suits those looking for a comprehensive general foundation to intermediate level grounding in Business Analysis competencies. The syllabus suits both those looking for enterprise business analysis competencies and those BAs working closely supporting IT change. To gain the diploma you must take 2 of the core BA modules and exams (Requirements Engineering AND Business Analysis Practice) and adjunct specialism and practitioner modules (Modelling Business Process and Business Analysis Foundation). On completion of these courses and exams, you are then eligible to take the Diploma exam. There are no prerequisites to qualifying to take the BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis modules.
